Free credit report from Equifax

In my quest to become a zero-junk mail household—and with the help of ProQuo and Catalog Choice—I tripped upon a way to get a free credit report from Equifax.

It’s simple! Just print out and send this form to Equifax and you’ll get a free copy of your credit report by mail about 2 weeks later. Apparently they process a request to be removed from their marketing lists and prescreen databases in the same way as an actual credit dispute. When they respond to the dispute, they include a copy of the report.

Here’s the response that was included on the cover page of my report:

Below are the results of your request for Equifax to reinvestigate certain elements of your Equifax credit file. Equifax contacted each source directly and our investigation is now completed. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the source of that information directly.

And yes, I am aware of the free annual credit report program, but this may just be the way to sneak an extra peak!
