Upgrading to Windows 7

Microsoft has not officially announced pricing for Windows 7, but if you’ve purchased a desktop or laptop in the past 180 days, there’s still time to add Software Assurance for $109, which would entitle you to a free upgrade when it is released (compared to the anticipated $199 retail upgrade cost for Windows 7 Professional). Please contact # if you have any questions or would like assistance with purchasing Software Assurance.

Several manufacturers have also made a free Windows 7 upgrade option available when purchasing a new machine. For example, Dell will send you a DVD or download link to upgrade to Windows 7 once the new version is released. If you’re planning to purchase a new workstation in the next few months, make sure you take advantage of this free upgrade offer.
